Story

Well, it has come to that time of year again to start training for the Sydney Tower Climb. That also means I need your help in raising money for Macquarie University for MND Research,to help find a cure for Motor Neuron Disease (MND).
Once again, on Saturday 20th October, I will be climbing all 98 floors (1,504 stairs) of Sydney Centre Point Tower in full fire fighting Structure gear with boots and Self Containing Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), which weighs in at around 20Kg, to help find a cure for MND.
What is MND? Motor Neurone Disease (MND), or ALS, or Lou Gehrig's Disease is the name given to a group of diseases in which the nerve cells - neurones - controlling the muscles that enable us to move, speak, breathe and swallow; undergo degeneration and die. Motor function is controlled by upper motor neurones (UMN) in the brain that descend to the spinal cord; these neurones activate anterior horn cells - lower motor neurones (LMN). The LMN exit the spinal cord and directly activate muscles. With no nerves to activate them, muscles gradually weaken and waste. The patterns of weakness vary from person to person. It is estimated that there are presently around 2000 people with MND in Australia. Slightly more men than women are diagnosed with MND, most commonly in the 50 to 60 year age group. However, MND may be diagnosed in adults at any age.
To my friends and family, PLEASE, dig deep and donate to this very important cause by clicking on this link below and PLEASE share this around.
Thankyou again to ALL the beautiful people who donated last year and I hope you, as well as many others can all donate this year!
Thankyou!
